Jan 12 Worship at the Soccer Tournament

January 12 Worship

This week, we’ll be worshiping out at the Middle School Soccer tournament in which one of our members, Jared Alexander, is playing.  We will hold the service after the second round of soccer games – probably about 10:30.  We will be outdoors, at or near the pavilion by the Athletic Fields.

I know this is out of the comfort zone for some of us, but what a great opportunity for us to let people know who we are and to be bold about Jesus.

Gamble Rogers Middle School  6250 U.S. 1, St Augustine, FL
It is 30 minutes south of Baptist South Hospital.
Directions:
Take I-95 South to exit 305
Go East on CR 206 for 2.2 miles.
Go North on U.S. 1 for 1.1 miles.
Gamble Rogers Middle School will be on your right.
LOOK FOR THE SIGN ON THE RIGHT AS YOU HEAD NORTH ON US 1. THE SCHOOL IS HARD TO SEE FROM THE ROAD.  If you see the Catholic Church, turn around.
You can make plans to stick around or arrive early to see some great soccer and Crescent Beach and St. Augustine are close by if you want to go out to lunch.
Keep it in prayer and I hope to see you there.  And feel free to forward this to anyone you’d like to invite.

January Prayer Requests for FCMC

For God to use the upcoming worship service on January 12 at Gamble Rogers Middle School during a break during the St. Johns Middle School Soccer tournament.

For those who will be leading and speaking in that service.

For those involved in the leadership huddles to grow in knowledge and grace as disciples.

For the two missional community efforts developing for early 2014.

Missional Community Experience Available in 2014

I’m really excited to share this news, too.  We are launching a new four month Missional Community Experience beginning in February. This will follow a January 26 informational gathering.

These four month experiences are great ways to try out a missional community.  We’ll be meeting in the Cimmorone neighborhood, down around highway 210 at Kent and Kris’s home.  Pray for these three things:  1) For good chemistry and personal growth for the leadership core.  2) For a clear (short-term) vision for mission.   3) That we would find favor as we invite people to join in.

FAQs

What will we do?  Intentionally try to live life like Jesus together for four months.

When does it start?  In February.

How often will we meet?  Three times a month – or twelve times.

  • First and third Sunday evenings from 5:30 – 7:00.
  • Second Sundays at 11:00 for worship with a larger group.
  • We schedule two or three other things over our four months together – but we don’t know exactly when yet.

What will I get out of it?  At the very least, a new experience with some really great people.  But this is a God thing.  We don’t know what God has in store – but  we will focus on growing as disciples and serving in mission.

What does it cost?  Your time, commitment, love, and energy – but there’s no fee, if that’s what you are wondering.   In terms of your most valuable asset – time –  it will cost you about twenty-five hours over four months.

But what if I have other commitments?  We expect you to make a serious commitment to being involved in the missional community for four months and blocking other things out of your schedule.  Too much busyness would work against your having a good experience.

Who do I contact to learn more?  Jesse Alexander – 904-599-2889 or email pastorjessealexander@gmail.com.

Looking forward to dedicating Norma and Andrew’s house to the work of the Lord.   Come on out on December 7 at 4pm and help us as we ask God’s Spirit to do great things in and through their home.

And in December, we’re moving our monthly Sunday Celebrations (Our worship gatherings) to Sunday mornings.  Check back here for the exact place, date, and time!

Values for FCMC

This is from the vision document.  Just wanted to share.

The following values are particular for the strategy of First Coast Missional Communities

1) Prayer is the foundation.  We acknowledge our deep dependence on God for missional communities to flourish.  Only God can do this.

2) Discipleship is the plan. God’s plan to renew the world calls us to make deeply surrendered disciples who are equipped and motivated to make more.

3) Missional Communities are the primary expression.  They are who we are not what we do.   Every member is expected to make the missional community the central locus of participation.

4) Imitating Christ is the lifestyle.  It’s simply about living life like Jesus.  It involves a rhythm of “Up” (worship, study and prayer), “In” (authentic fellowship), and “Out” (face-to-face-side-by-side missional service).

5) Blessing the city is our aim.  Wherever we find ourselves planted, we set to work blessing the city one community at a time.

6) Celebration is the result.  As we serve, we celebrate and worship God.  We try hard to get together at least once a month to worship and celebrate what God is doing and to encourage one another in a public.
