The Blue Ocean Project: Love the Neighborhood

The visible goal: A Christian community of faith that gathers regularly for the neighborhood.

Project goals:

To join God in his work in us and through us to…

  1. Be with Jesus who is sending us.
  2. To gather and form a community of faith that continues to gather regularly for the neighborhood.
  3. See more shalom break out in the neighborhood so that needs are met, joy and generosity increase, relationships are restored, lives are lived for God’s glory, God’s grace and truth are proclaimed
  4. Learn and be able to share and repeat a process to build communities like that wherever Jesus puts us.

We will try to build this community the way it unfolds in the gospels, following the pattern which Jesus showed us when he built his community. In other words, in the way of Jesus. This is unpacked in the video below. (Credit to Mike Breen and Alex Absolom for the word-way-works triad!)

This is our pattern in a nutshell.

40 Days of Prayer

A message on the temptation of Jesus – Matthew 4:1-11

Prayer – Jesus into the neighborhood.

Contact Work – Be with people in the neighborhood and appropriately announce God’s kingdom.

Connecting Experiences – Develop a rhythm of gatherings

Threshold Crossing Experiences – Do what we can to bring people before Jesus

An on-going up-in-out fellowship – pull together as a new community of faith that is for the neighborhood and the city.

About Pastor Jesse

I am someone loved by Jesus - a disciple, husband, father, pastor, and engineer. God has a mission and invites us into it. I want to do my part to encourage and equip people for life on that mission!
