One time, a man in the church asked me to spend a day with him fishing. I couldn’t do it, I said, because I had to spend that time preparing for the worship service. Wow, I wish I could have that day back! I now view the chance to invest in a guy for six to eight hours as one of the most valuable ways I could ever spend a day. My sermon may have suffered, but my life would preach better.

Found this interesting Christmas parallel in James. James 1:14 But one is tempted by one’s own desire, being lured and enticed by it; 1:15 then, when that desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin, and that sin, when it is fully grown, gives birth to death. But God who cannot be tempted by sin and who’s desire is to redeem us conceived a son who when fully grown gave birth to life in Jesus! Praise be to God!
