About LoveFirst Coast

Why are we here? As one of the churches on the First Coast, we want to be a part of God’s mission here by learning to imitate Christ while helping others do the same until the Church of Jesus prevails and the beauty of God’s Kingdom is revealed in every square inch of our city.

What do we do? If you follow Jesus, we believe you have been called, like every follower of Jesus, to be a part of God’s work where you live: loving and serving neighbors, sharing the good news of the gospel, inviting others to follow Jesus, and showing them how.  We believe that involves promoting grace, addressing injustice, and participating in forgiveness and reconciliation.  If you live here on the First Coast, your job as a Christian is to represent Jesus wherever you find yourself. When that happens, we participate in God’s work of remaking the First Coast to be more like heaven.  (That’s what we pray for every time we pray the Lord’s prayer: “…Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Matthew 6:10)   So we exist to invite, encourage, and equip people to live life on mission in order to be a part of what God is doing.

What It’s Like: LoveFirst Coast is a non-traditional, non-denominational church. We are small community following Jesus together.  We meet in homes, virtually, and in borrowed spaces.  Spending time with us feels very much like spending time with an extended family and friends.  We really enjoy being with new people.  We encourage and challenge one another to follow Jesus and serve him where he leads us in life, work, and in our networks of relationships.  We help one another discover ways to follow Jesus wherever we go. One of our values is blessing churches. Many in our community also participate in area churches. So our gatherings are usually not on Sunday morning.

Sustainable Patterns for Mission: We believe that the best life any human being could lead is one patterned after the life-style of Jesus.  Therefore, we work at helping people to live “Up”- developing a closer relationship with God; “In” – building relationships and investing in others so that we can help one another follow Jesus; and “Out” – addressing and meeting the world’s great needs with the love, grace, and power of God.

We try to live what we believe.  You can read more about that here.

Hello friends and siblings in Christ! I found this website quite randomly, because I lead a Huddle based on Mike Breen’s model and we were doing a session on invitation and challenge. Your writing and reflections were really invaluable for us and for me (even more so than Mike Breen’s chapter on the topic.). I really appreciate you all for this website and for the work you are doing together.

My one challenge to you 🙂 is to tell people about the actual members of the community who created this website. Are you all pastors? Stay at home moms? Would I recognize you if I saw you on the street? Regardless I want to say thank you again. I hope if I ever happen to be in the Jacksonville area (I’m in DC) I could visit with you all; you seem to be living the love of Christ and blessing your whole community and beyond.

    God bless you,
    Silas
